Rules

1. Directions should be followed the first time they are given.

2. Students should raise their hand and wait for permission to speak.

3. Students must be seated and ready to work when the bell rings.

4. Students should respect their fellow classmates.

5. Students should keep personal objects to themselves. 

Consequences

First offense:  Verbal warning & loss of 20 participation points

Second offense:  Verbal warning & loss of an additional 10 participation points

Third offense:  Verbal warning, 1 day of detention, & loss another 10 participation  points

Fourth offense:  Student will be removed from class for the rest of the period,  & lose all participation points for the day

Rewards

  • Extra “free”/homework time at the end of each period

  • “free”/activity day with game or video


  • Grading Policy

    Tests

     (35% of average)

    Tests generally take an entire period to complete and are based on information that we have covered over a two to three week period.  Students are usually given two to three days to prepare.

    Quizzes

    (25% of average)

    Quizzes generally take about 20 minutes to complete and are based on smaller units of information that we have covered over a one to two day period.  Students are usually given one day to prepare.

    Homework

    (20% of average)

    Homework will be graded as follows:
    • Completed when you enter the classroom and corrected with the class = 100
    • Anything else = 0
    • You may complete any late assignment up to one week from the date it was assigned and make arrangements to go over it for a grade of 65
    • Absent students have one week to turn in late homework with no penalty.  After a week, the grade becomes a permanent zero.  Special arrangements may be made for extended absences.

    Participation

    (20% of average)

    Each day you enter the door with a 100. 
    Points will be deducted for behavior as listed under the rules section.
    In addition, you will lose 20 points for not paying attention, you will lose 20 points for not being an active member of class and you will lose 20 points for not bringing all your materials with you to class.


    Materials:  Bound notebook, pocket folder, writing utensil that is NOT green, textbook and any homework that is due that day, any outstanding signatures on test material that earned less than a 75.
